Africa-Press. Zamalek and Al Masry of Port Said reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup after the former beat South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs 2–1 at home and the latter defeated Zambia’s Zesco 2–0 at home in the sixth and final round of the group stage.
Zamalek moved up to 11 points to top Group D, one point ahead of second-placed Al Masry, while Kaizer Chiefs stayed on 10 points in third.
In the first match, Juan Alfina put Zamalek ahead in the 53rd minute, then Abdallah El-Said added a second in the 72nd. Three minutes later, Makabi Lilebo pulled one back for the visitors.
In the second match, Al Masry’s two goals were scored by Karim Bambo and Salah Mohsen (63rd and 81st).
