The landfill collapsed after a wave of heavy rainfall that affected the Guinean capital, leading to the collapse of parts of the site and the destruction of several nearby homes, according to authorities.
Rescue teams have been deployed to search for individuals who may still be trapped under the rubble, recover the bodies of the victims, and provide assistance to the injured.
State agencies, the Red Cross, defense and security forces, along with medical teams and local authorities, participated in the rescue operations.
The Prime Minister visited the disaster site to assess the extent of the damage and oversee the rescue efforts.
The Prime Minister conveyed condolences and solidarity from the authorities to the families of the victims on behalf of the President and the government.
The injured have been transported to several health facilities, including the Donka University Hospital in Conakry, while authorities are preparing to take measures to assist those affected by the disaster.
