Africa-Press. The Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, announced the resignation of the country’s government after its failure to meet its objectives.

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo appointed Manuel Osa Nsue Nsue as Prime Minister in 2024. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the President’s son and Vice President, stated in a press release that the Prime Minister submitted the resignation of all government members for achieving only 10% of their goals. The specific goals that the government was expected to achieve were not specified.

A statement issued by the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) noted that the government, during its tenure, implemented numerous initiatives in the areas of public administration, infrastructure, public services, and economic development.

The party announced in a statement posted on Facebook that “the collective resignation of the government comes as part of the institutional restructuring processes that are periodically conducted in the country to align the government’s structure with the new state priorities.” President Obiang has been in power in Equatorial Guinea since 1979, making him the longest-serving president in the world.
