Africa-Press. The Ministry of Defense of the Libyan Government of National Unity signed a memorandum of understanding for military cooperation with Niger. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday in Tripoli, attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Salem Al-Zadma, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Abdul Salam Al-Zubi, along with the Nigerien Prime Minister, Ali Amin Zain, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Libya and Niger, serving the interests of both countries. They also addressed several issues of mutual concern.
They discussed border security issues and combating irregular migration, as well as ways to develop cooperation in this area and coordinate efforts to enhance regional stability.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to update a point of contact to initiate coordination between them by activating the work of the High Committee (Libyan-Nigerien), which contributes to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and supports development and stability efforts in the region.
The Prime Minister of Niger, Ali Amin Zain, arrived in Tripoli on Monday, where he met with the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, to discuss a range of topics, primarily focusing on the economy and security.
