Africa-Press. The Malian army announced the execution of a series of military operations, supported by its partners, targeting terrorist groups as part of Operation “Dogokoloko.”
Operation “Dogokoloko” is a comprehensive and intensive military operation launched by the Malian army, led by the ruling military council, to regain control over all Malian territory and combat armed and terrorist groups.
The General Staff stated in a statement that accurate intelligence allowed for the tracking of dozens of motorbike riders belonging to terrorist armed groups inside a forest near Kerenia yesterday, Friday.
The statement added that after verifying the information, Malian forces targeted the gathering with a military strike.
In the same sector, the General Staff reported that a second armed group was spotted hiding under vegetation before its location was targeted with a precise strike.
The statement confirmed that no movement was detected at the site following the execution of the strike.
In another development, the General Staff stated that an offensive reconnaissance mission was carried out in Diallo and its surroundings in the Bandiagara region, resulting in the spotting of a pickup truck belonging to an armed group, with individuals on board hiding under a tree.
After assessing the situation, the site was targeted, according to the statement, confirming that the operation was executed “successfully.”
The General Staff clarified that monitoring and reconnaissance operations are ongoing in the relevant areas to assess the results of the strikes, prepare a comprehensive report, and track what it described as remaining threats to neutralize them.
The General Staff of the Malian armed forces reiterated its commitment to continue securing national territory, emphasizing “strictness, professionalism, and commitment.”
It also called on the population to continue their support and trust in the forces participating in the operations.
In April, coordinated attacks occurred nationwide by a coalition of armed groups and separatist rebels in the north – the Azawad Liberation Front – seeking to overthrow the military regime of General Assimi Goita, who seized power in a coup in 2020.
During the attacks, Defense Minister Sadio Kamara was killed in a suicide bombing by a car bomb targeting his home near the capital Bamako.
The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims has expanded its operations, beginning to target not only northern Mali but also its central and southern regions, demonstrating its ability to penetrate deeper into the territory despite numerous military operations.
