Africa-Press. Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lost his balance and fell to the ground during the welcoming ceremony at the Turkish Presidential Palace, as part of his official visit yesterday, Tuesday.
Videos circulating on social media documented the moment President Tinubu fell while walking alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the conclusion of the welcoming ceremony, as the two leaders were heading toward the stairs to enter the palace.
As soon as Tinubu lost his balance and fell, security personnel and officials rushed to help him back to his feet. The two presidents later appeared standing side by side in front of the presidential palace for photographs.
A video published on the official account of the Turkish president on the platform “X” shows the moment of the Nigerian president’s fall at 10 minutes and 56 seconds.
Meanwhile, Turkey and Nigeria signed nine agreements and memoranda of understanding in the presence of the two presidents at the presidential complex in the capital, Ankara.
The signed memoranda of understanding covered cooperation in the fields of diaspora policies, media and communication, higher education, halal product quality infrastructure, cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Academy, as well as cooperation between the Turkish Ministry of Family and the Nigerian Ministry of Women’s Affairs.
A cooperation agreement in the field of education was also signed, along with a joint declaration establishing the Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO), in addition to a protocol on military cooperation.
