Africa-Press. The Egyptian national handball team claimed the 2026 African Championship title for the tenth time in its history after defeating its Tunisian counterpart (37–24) in the final held yesterday, Saturday, in Rwanda.
The “Pharaohs” led by seven goals at halftime and extended the margin to thirteen goals in the second half, securing a convincing (37–24) victory.
Egypt won the tournament for the fourth consecutive time and succeeded in equaling Tunisia’s record as the most successful team in the history of the African Championship, with ten titles each.
Earlier on Saturday, the Cape Verde secured the bronze medal after defeating Algeria (29–23).
As a result, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Cape Verde all qualified for the finals of the Handball World Championship, scheduled to be held in Germany next year.
