Belarus: Algeria is a Key Partner in Africa

Africa-Press. The Belarusian leader, Alexander Lukashenko, described Algeria as a key partner in Africa during his meeting with the Algerian Parliament President, Ibrahim Bougali, in Minsk.

Lukashenko stated that his country seeks to establish “advanced and serious relations” with Algeria, saying: “We are completely open to your country and are very eager to develop our relations with you to a highly advanced and serious level. This may be the best relationship among all African countries.”

The Belarusian leader noted that “Belarus already has partner countries in North, Central, and South Africa, through which it plans to expand cooperation across the continent,” adding: “It would be very good for Algeria to become one of these countries.”

He added, “We can offer you what you do not have. In return, you can help us develop the areas we are in urgent need of.”

For his part, Bougali confirmed Algeria’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Belarus, stating: “Algeria is currently pursuing an economic diversification policy aimed at reducing dependence on hydrocarbons, focusing on developing agriculture, industry, and pharmaceutical industries.”

He pointed out that his country needs Belarusian expertise to strengthen these sectors and increase activity in these areas, continuing: “I am confident that there are prospects for joint work here.”

It is worth noting that Lukashenko visited Algeria in 2025, where he met with the Algerian leader, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and discussed enhancing mutual cooperation.
